Allen Frances, M.D., is a Professor Emeritus of psychiatry at the Duke University School of Medicine. He was chair of the task force that produced the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th edition, as well as chair of the department of psychiatry at Duke.
His work has appeared in Psychology Today, the Huffington Post, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and elsewhere. With Michael First, he is the co-author of Am I Okay? A Layman’s Guide to the Psychiatrist’s Bible.
