Matthew Connelly is an associate professor of history at Columbia University. His newest book, Fatal Misconception, details the pitfalls of the global family planning movement, culminating in China’s one-child policy, eugenics, and sterilization.

He has published in journals such as Comparative Studies in Society and History, The International Journal of Middle East Studies, The American Historical Review, The Review française d’histoire d’ Outre-mer, and Past & Present.

In addition to his scholarly work, Connelly has been a contributor to the Atlantic Monthly, the Wilson Quarterly, the New York Times, the History Channel, and the BBC.
