PZ Myers teaches biology at the University of Minnesota at Morris, where he specializes in developmental and neurobiology. He has engaged in some very high-profile public advocacy for evolutionary theory and against creationism and intelligent design. He is a prominent religious skeptic and in 2009 received the American Humanist Association’s “Humanist of the Year” award. Myers is also the Internet’s top-ranked science blogger, as chosen by the journal Nature; his site, Pharyngula, commonly receives over 100,000 pageviews per day. He holds a Ph.D. in biology from the University of Oregon.
