Patrick J. Deneen is the David A. Potenziani Memorial Associate Professor of Constitutional Studies at the University of Notre Dame. His interests include ancient political thought, American political thought, democratic theory, religion and politics, and literature and politics.

He is the author of The Odyssey of Political Theory (2000) and Democratic Faith (2005) and has published articles in Political Theory, Social Research, Polity, First Things, The Weekly Standard, and others. He edited the volumes Redeeming Democracy in America and The Democratic Soul: A Wilson Carey McWilliams Reader, both in 2011, with Susan J. McWilliams.

He received his Ph.D. in political science from Rutgers University.
