John Eastman is the Dean and Donald P. Kennedy Chair in Law at Chapman University School of Law. He also served as Chapman’s Dean from June 2007 to January 2010. He is the Director of the Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence, a public interest law firm affiliated with the Claremont Institute, that he founded in 1999. Previously, Dr. Eastman was the Henry Salvatori Professor of Law & Community Service. He served also as a law clerk to Justice Clarence Thomas at the Supreme Court of the United States and with Judge J. Michael Luttig at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
He earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, where he graduated with high honors in 1995. Eastman also has a Ph.D. and M.A. in Government from the Claremont Graduate School. He has a B.A. in Politics and Economics from the University of Dallas.
