Phillip W. Magness is a Senior Research Fellow at the American Institute for Economic Research.
He is the author of numerous works on economic history, taxation, economic inequality, the history of slavery, and education policy in the United States. He is the author or editor of several books including The Rules of the Game: How Government Works and Why it Sometimes Doesn’t, co-authored with Paul Weissburg (2011); Cracks in the Ivory Tower: The Moral Mess of Higher Education, co-authored with Jason Brennan (2019); and most recently The 1619 Project: A Critique (2020).
Magness holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from George Mason University and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas.
